With Target leading the pack, 2017 has proved to be a financial boon for retailers. Because of the boost in revenue, this retail giant foresees the approaching holiday season even more demanding for its business. To help prepare for the influx of holiday revelers, Target is hoping to hire a whopping 100,000 employees.

Although this should assist their over 1,816 retail stores across the nation, Target has even greater plans in store for the company. They also hope to fill an additional 4,500 jobs within the countries distribution and fulfillment facilities.

Hiring Boost for 2017

Target typically hires additional employees during the holiday season. But in 2017, they’ve decided to add on even more staff members than in the past. In 2016, the retailer put over 70,000 seasonal employees throughout the U.S. to work. Although the distribution and fulfillment facility employees are predicted to be in the 7,500 range, 2017 prospective hires trump the figures for the previous year. Target has high hopes that the year will finish out strong.

To ensure seasonal employees are ready and placed throughout the retail establishment and centers, Target has started the hiring process well before the holiday shopping season. If you’re looking to apply for a position within the company, you can do so in-person by visiting one of the many stores. You can also apply through Target’s online website. Target will also hold upcoming hiring events throughout their stores to bring greater awareness to the many seasonal employment opportunities. Here prospective employees will have a chance to speak with managers who are hiring, fill out applications or ask questions if they choose.

The positions offered within the company are dependent on the needs of the various locations. But the corporate website sees their primary focus on areas such as Order Pickup. This will aid in helping consumers who arrange an in-store pickup for purchases that they made online. Over 1,200 Target locations will be offering this setup to assist busy shoppers who don’t have the time to peruse leisurely through the aisles of the store. The focus for the employees assigned to the distribution facilities will be assisting in getting the orders out quickly and without delay.

Amazing Opportunities Available

Seeking seasonal employment is an excellent way to pay for gifts for family and friends. Target also wants to ensure that holiday employees are properly compensated for their dedication and hard work. Janna Poots is Target’s Chief Stores Officer who spoke about the importance of employee compensation. In addition to a 10 percent discount for purchases both online and in-store, employees would also receive 20 percent off items such as vegetables, fruit and other health related merchandise.

Janna Poots also hopes to offer holiday employees skill development and job scheduling flexibility. For employees already on-board with the company, Target will give them the opportunity to add more hours to their work schedule. Target already offers competitive wages and compelling benefits package to keep up with the other retailers in the market place.

If you’re looking for a full or part-time position, you’re in luck. Target has already implemented the seasonal hiring process to get ahead of the game. Managers see this as an excellent opportunity to quickly fill the retail positions, so they’ll be able to have sufficient employees to stock shelves, fill orders, assist customers and oversee truck deliveries. Although many of the job opportunities available are temporary, you may find your position permanent and one you can keep long after the upcoming holidays. However, with the culmination of the season, sales have been known to taper off, so you shouldn’t go into it thinking that you’re guaranteed permanent placement.

Seasonal Job Opportunities Await You

Most retailers have begun to implement plans for hiring workers for the upcoming holiday season. But Target is getting a leg up on the competition with this head start on seasonal hiring. If you’re in the market for a job, this is great news, as the retailer has numerous positions to be filled by candidates who qualify. Black Friday is just around the corner and promises to be the kickoff to a prosperous shopping season. For those looking for employment, you can expect your schedule to be bustling as everyone gets ready to usher in 2018.

With its stock up a solid 2 percent, Target is looking forward to more financially prosperous months ahead in positive territory.
