What Is the New York BABY Benefit?
Launched as part of the 2026 New York State Budget, the BABY Benefit is a game-changing grant that provides a $1,800 lump-sum payment to low-income families welcoming a new child, whether by birth or adoption, during the 2025–2026 tax year.
The initiative aims to help parents tackle the immediate, often overwhelming expenses of childbirth and early infant care.
Who Qualifies for the $1,800 Baby Stimulus Check?
To be eligible, applicants must:

Reside in New York State

Be enrolled in a public assistance program

Welcome a child (by birth or adoption) during the 2025–2026 tax year

More Than Just a One-Time Grant: A Comprehensive Family Support Plan

This fall, all 2023 tax filers in New York will receive inflation rebate checks of up to $400 to help combat rising costs.
4. Investment in Child Care
